Seaview In 1989

This is Seaview when her hull was being built in Galveston, TX.                       And who is "this" unusually handsome fellow? Wait! It's ME! Yes,
This is the Waterline hull. Basically, all that means is this is the                          there was a time when I too was a stunning and hunky kinda guy.
part of the hull that spends all it's time underwater. D-Deck is                          See what marriage will do to ya? I had it all! Looks! Ambitions!
also in this part. Several Staterooms, the Laundry Room and the                     Dreams! I coulda been a contender! Guys? If you're ever thinking
boat's engine room and 2 Westinghouse/MTU generators are in                      about marriage? Look at this pic and then look at me today! That
this part of Seaview                                                                                        should be enough to set you straight. Forwarned is forearmed!

This was taken in July of 1989. Seaview was finally turned over                       This pic was taken in August of 1989. This is the framing that will
and placed in a gantry, so we could build her up. This area is the                      eventually be C-Deck. Below is what you see in the pic to the left.
Bilge and will eventually be D-Deck. This is as far down inside                        All of the Staterooms on Seaview are on both C and D Decks.
the old gal as one can go without needing scuba gear.                                      These decks are where I stash all the women when they visit.

Seaview in 2001

Flash forward to March of 2001. As many of you know, Seaview                     Here are 2 of my buddies, Jeff and Bernie. They along with
was sunk at the dock in a storm one week before Xmas in 2000.                       a few others pitched in to give me a hand in salvaging the
This sad photo is of the canoe completely gutted out and ready to                      canoe. From getting her off the bottom and into drydock,
be reconstructed from the inside out. At the time, I honestly didn't                      to what you see here. And all for free. This is what real and
believe I'd get this far. I just didn't know if I could rebuild her again.                   true friendship is all about. Aw, you guys.....

This is June 2001. Seaview's new superstructure is almost done.                      September 2001. The shakedown
That's me and Rusty with our asses sticking out, with our heads                       cruise. Seaview is finally done and
stuck inside the Pilothouse as we work on some of the wiring to                       we take her out into Narragansett
the lower decks. Seaview was my first "real" project. So a lot of                     Bay for the first time since she sunk
"newbie" went into building her. But I guess my Dad had faith in                      at the dock almost a year before.
me when he slapped down $$$ to build her. He loved the design.                   We had her out most of the day and
When she was finally rebuilt, I'd realized that I'd done a better job                   not one thing went wrong with any
building her the second time around. I didn't believe I could do it.                    part of the boat, on any level. It was
Just goes to show that experience counts for something.                                  a perfect sailing day.

Another view of the canoe from the air on the shakedown                    This was shot taken on the shakedown cruise from my buddy Mike's
cruise. My buddy Jeff knew a professional photographer                      fishing trawler (which by the way, I also designed and built for
and I had a friend that flew helicopters. So, we got the 2                       him). Mike climbed all the way to the top of his flybridge to take
guys together and they went up and took some aerial shots                   this and several other shots with a Kodak and damned near fell
of the Seaview under full sail. She's a looker, even from the                  off the thing climbing back down. But he made back down and
air. I think I'll keep my day job!                                                           the pix he took all came out okay. Not bad for a Kodak, eh?

Day's end after the shakedown cruise. Mike takes this shot of
Seaview at sunset as she heads for Pier 22 at Slip 1969 in one
of Newport, RI's many marinas. The perfect end to the perfect
day. Because of the 9/11 incident, I had to wait till October to
get the canoe inspected and signed off by the USCG. but when
I finally got it done, I finally moved back aboard where I live on

her all year round. Except this year. Damned hurricane!

Welcome Aboard! And Welcome To My Home

Welcome aboard! This is the Promenade Deck and the                           Inside the Pilothouse, we pass the Navionics Console and
Pilothouse. This is where we all gather to party or just to                          head down the stairway to the Galley (Kitchen for all you
sit outside on those hot and balmy summer days or nights.                        landlubbers) on B-Deck. You can see the dinner table
In nautical lingo, this deck is also known as A-Deck.                               from up here. You can sorta see my son at the table eating
And there's plenty of room for eating "under" that table too.                     god only knows what.

And this is the Galley on B-Deck. This is where I prepare                     This is the Forward Lounge and Auxillary Helm station. Generally,
all those awesome recipes I keep telling you all about. The                    this is a place to kick back and relax with a few guests that might
only drawback to me putting the Galley here, is when I do                     stop by, but aren't staying very long or where major entertaining isn't
major cooking down here, that window above gets all hot                     an issue. The lounge is located on B-Deck at the forward part of
and steamed up. Not good if ya happen to be making a                         the boat, just ahead of the main mast. In an emergency, this room
spaghetti dinner while under sail and the Captain needs to                      can serve as a secondary helm and control center. Those windows
see out the windows. But hey, I had to put it somewhere!                      have privacy panels that close and look like part of the deck, above.

This is where all the industrial strength entertaining is done. It's the                     This is the same room as the one on the left, but from another
Seaview's main party room (or Main Saloon in boat lingo). The                         viewing angle. That wide screen Sony is where I watch all of
Bar is located towards the back, where you see those barstools.                       those secret tapes of gals in Bikinis. It's HDTV so I can see
When I built Seaview, this is where my Dad would entertain his                         every goosebumple in full detail. More ice on those thighs!
friends and business associates. Nowadays, it's where I chase                           This end of the room faces towards the bow. It takes up a
gals around when I get them to come for a visit.                                                 large part of B-Deck.

This is the Captain's Quarters. On the upper level. It's on B-Deck                     And this is where I sleep. Yep, my bedroom. You saw it here first!
This is where I entertain my "special guests". I guess being ship's                        It's located on the Lower Level on C-Deck, entered via a doorway
Captain has it's privileges. My cabin has 2 decks. If you look very                     from the upper level cabin on B-Deck. And that's a real motionless
carefully, to the left, you can see the doorway after some stairs                          waterbed, complete with electric blanket. There's a cozy fireplace
leading down to my bedroom on the lower level. Shall we enter?                       on the other side of the cabin. That's Kool-Aid on the bed. Suuure!

This is the Bow Stateroom on C-Deck. It's presently what my 14                      This is the Bow Stateroom on D-Deck. It's presently what
year old daughter uses as her bedroom. Though it would also be a                     my 9 year old son uses for his bedroom. He likes to hide
fitting room for love. Look at that blanket. What is it with little girls                    himself away down here and emerse himself in his books.
(and big girls) and Fairies? Believe it or not, this cabin is always this                   For now, I'm content with his fascination with books. The
clean. And I'm very pleased with the "NO BOYS" sign on the door.                  minute he starts liking girls, he's moving up to A-Deck!

This is one of 4 Double Staterooms on C-Deck. There are 3 other                   This is a Double Stateroom on D-Deck. Like on C-Deck, there are
Staterooms just like this cabin on C-Deck. There are 11 Staterooms                 4 other Staterooms just like this one, 2 opposite on the Starboard
on Seaview. As there are only me and the 2 kids and occasionally                     Side and one Aft. These rooms is also unused unless there's a bunch
my oldest daughter when she visits, this room and most of the others.                of my friends staying over after a party or some social event (or I've
aren't in use (which means there's less to keep cleaned up).                               got a gal hidden below in shackles or tied to a bed).

This is the Navionics Station or Chartroom for short. This is where
I hang out online and chant in IRC, sometimes. I have a pc in my
cabin too. I also have satellite access for weather reports and I can
also get satellite shots of people homes if I know the address. Isn't
technology wonderful? And I also have communications and can
plot advanced courses for traveling. This year, I am thinking Bali
where the gal's go topless all year round, and show a lot of thigh.

And that's pretty much it. I hope your tour has been a pleasurable one. You now have a better idea of where I live
and maybe a little more about me and who I am. There have since been many other accomplishments I've achieved
over time. Gained much more experience then I had when I first put this canoe together. But all in all, Seaview will
always be my greatest achievement. She was my first, so to speak. I built her, she died once and I brought her back
again. I cried a few tears when I saw her sitting on the bottom of the marina, after that storm sank her. And like a
parent that loses a child and can't bring them back, I didn't think I would be able to bring her back, either. But a
child isn't a "thing". In a way, Seaview isn't either. But with the help of some great friends and the voice of Oscar
Goldman in some 6 Million Dollar Man episode, and the check from the insurance company, I was able to pull
myself together and do what I thought couldn't be done. I was able to rebuild her. Make her better. Stronger. And
it's been a pleasure walking you through the old gal and showing you all what a real lady she is. Thank you for
stopping by. Maybe someday we can go sailing. Spend the night. "Do things". Just don't touch the CD player.

My 1970 GTO Judge Winter Project

This is my 1970 GTO Judge.. I bought it dirt cheap as a wreck last October.. Ironically, I got it from the same guy I
got my 67 GTO that I customized into the Monkeemobile.. Fortunately through Year-One and a few other sources, I
was able to obtain everything I needed to do the car right.. I got the idea for the paint scheme from a photo of a 69
GTO that I saw on eBay.. I think I got all the pix in order, if not, oh well.. Hope ya like it.. Took me 8 months to do it..
